Cheri was only 34 when she learned she had cancer in her right breast. Mother of a one-year-old daughter, Hannah, whom she co-parented with partner Robin Latimer, she had hoped to become pregnant with their second child that year. Instead, she underwent a double mastectomy, endured several rounds of chemo and therapy, and fought like crazy to hang on to the life she loved. She lost her battle nine months after diagnosis.
Fun-loving by nature, Cheri literally made a career out of play — earning a bachelor's degree in leisure studies from the U of O, and working with kids at the YWCA and Eugene Parks & Rec, eventually becoming education director at Dorris Ranch in Springfield.
Cheri is sorely missed by her family and friends.
